Review – Thanu Nenu

Release date : November 27, 2015
tollywoodfilmcomment.blogspot.in : 3 /5
Director : Ram Mohan P
Producer : Ram Mohan P
Music Director : Sunny MR

Starring : Avika Gor, Santosh Sobhan

The teasers and promotions of Tanu Nenu created a decent buzz for the film. Starring debutante Santosh Shoban and Avika Gor, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:-

Kiran(Santosh Shobhan) is a call center employee who hates America and NRI culture. One fine day, he comes across Keerthi(Avika Gor) and falls in love with her. As time passes by, even Keerthi approves his love and the couple spend some happy times together.
On the other hand, Keerthi’s father(Ravi Babu) is a shrewd man who only dreams of sending his daughter to the US for big bucks. Twist in the tale arises when he decides to get his daughter married to an NRI.
What will Kiran do now ? How will he stop Keerthi from leaving to the US ? Why does Kiran hate America ? To know answers to these questions, you need to watch the film on the big screen.

Plus Points:-

Santosh Shobhan impresses with his debut film. The young actor showcases good emotions and is also good in the comedy department. His dialogue delivery is neat and if planned well, he can go a long way in his career.
Avika Gor is also good in the film. Her chemistry with Santosh is decent as the pair look quite convincing on screen. First half of the film is quite breezy with an interesting interval point.
The way friendship between youngsters and NRI relationships have been showcased needs a special mention. Even though Ravi Babu is good, his role was short lived.

Minus Points:-

One of the biggest drawbacks of the film was the lack of emotions during the second half. After wrapping up the first half with quite an interesting interval bang, the director lets go off the proceedings in a silly way.
There are certain scenes and situations during the second half which are a huge let down. Also, the way Ravi Babu’s character is ended and the emotions showcased post that incident lack maturity.
Entertainment value is slightly less during the second part. Tanu Nenu will appeal only to the youth and multiplexes.

Technical Aspects:-

Music by Sunny M R is decent and so was his background score. Dialogues written and the satires executed on the NRI culture have been written well. Screenplay is decent during the first half but slightly falters during the second part. Production values of the film are pretty good. Even though the film is made on quite a small budget, the camera and art work make the film look quite rich.
Coming to the director Ram Mohan, he has done a pretty decent job for his debut film. He chooses a novel story line and nicely sets it up in today’s age and situations. Ram even manages to showcase a decent love story and extracts good performances from his start cast. But the only place where he fails is through the second half which is quite mediocre. Had he taken good care about this part, the outcome would have been even better.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Tanu Nenu is a quirky love story which will appeal to the youth and multiplex audience mostly. The simple and clean content of the film and impressive performances by the lead pair are some assets. Having said that, the film is let down a bit because of a mediocre second half and ends up just an ok watch this weekend.

Back to back hits Baahubali and Rudhramadevi catapulted Anushka to the top position in South Indian film industry and her daring decision to put on weight of nearly 20 kgs for the role of obese girl for Size Zero had raised eyebrows.

Is all the hype about the movie justified? Has her decision to put on extra kilos paid off? Let’s find out in detail in this review.

Story:

Soundarya aka Sweety is overweight. Her mother's only worry is to get her married off to an NRI guy. A handsome NRI documentary filmmaker Abhi (Arya) comes for alliance and likes her but she rejects him for some strange reason. Later she likes him but by then he starts getting close to a slim social worker Simran (Sonal). Her mother makes Sweety join a slimming clinic called Size Zero Clinic owned by Satyanand (Prakash Raj). She comes to know that Satyanand is giving fraud medicines to them that affect health. Then what happens? How does she get Abhi?

Artistes’ Performances:

The movie belongs to no one else but Anushka. She has put in so much hard work and dedication to make the movie work and make the role believable. Even when the movie turns very dull, Anushka is the sole reason that would make one sit through the film.

Arya is just okay. Sonal is very glamorous, has suited perfectly to the role of a Size Zero girl. Prakash Raj as Size Zero Satyanand has done his best. Urvasi as her mother is another actor who shines in the movie. Gollapudi is just okay. Master Bharat provides some laughs. Brahmanandam and Ali are wasted.

Technical Excellence:

Size Zero boasts of rich visuals and decent technical values as the movie has services of highly experienced cinematographer Nirav Shah of Dhoom fame. Shah has come up with beautiful visuals.

Highlights:

  • Anushka’s performance
  • First Half of the movie

Drawbacks:

  • Weak screenplay
  • Boring Second half
  • Lack of entertainment
  • Unimpressive music

Analysis:

Films on weight issues are not new to us as many movies including Kitakitalu were made in Telugu. Size Zero also deals with the same topic but with a dose of romance.

Anushka with her cute chubby looks and performance drives the first half of the movie without any jerks but second half turns upside down as it gets too boring and pretentious. It deviates from the basic idea. The main issue of a girl's weight problems takes a back seat, the typical elements of hero/heroine being in two minds about their love comes forth.

Too much drama in the second half about Clean India, and episode of exposing the slimming clinics has killed the joy of the theme. In the second half, the movie tries out to be Lage Raho Munnabhai but ends up as a yawn.

There is a big episode about cycling with all celebrities appearing, such lengthy sequences only serves the purpose of promoting the producer's firm - PVP Sports but not the movie. Such boring episodes are there post interval in plenty.

By making Anushka reject Arya in the first place for no reason and falling for him in next scene, going for him even when he is steady with another girl has made her character look like an immature girl.

To be fair, the film has pretty good first half. It is only after the interval the movie goes haywire, touching all aspects but never being on the core idea.

Rich visuals and making values, Anushka's great screen presence is the only redeeming factors in the movie's boring second half.

Director Prakash Rao who debuted with Anangana O Dheerudu has proved again that he has visual flair but has no grip on narration. Writer Kanika's script lacks dum. Music is another big letdown. The movie has excessive runtime.

Plus Points:-

Kamal Haasan is that the biggest plus of this action heroic tale. Right from his visual communication to his performance, everything is quality. The manner Kamal gets into his character and showcases serious emotions throughout the film is simply outstanding. Trisha is apt in her role and every one her resistance scenes with Kamal area unit superb.
Madhu Shalini appearance super cute in her small role and will complete justice. half of the film is kind of racy and has some fringe of the seat action episodes. the assorted twists that come back throughout now have additionally been dead well. Prakash rule another time will an outstanding job in his negative role and entertains the audience together with his antics.
All the action sequences are choreographed quite stylishly. the extraordinary fight between Trisha and Kamal Haasan appearance awing and has been shot fantastically. Background score is yet one more plus because it lifts the proceedings to a different level.

Minus Points:-

Even though there aren't several boring points, the proceedings taking their own time to finish throughout the half. once a racy half, narration dips slightly and makes sure scenes to travel on and on.
Climax of the film is additionally extended as some gratuitous scenes spoil the texture of the film. half lacks the required twists and story of the film is kind of straightforward and has nothing a lot of attention-grabbing to supply.

Technical Aspects:-

Camera work is quality and showcases the whole proceedings in a very excellent light-weight. The tap house set showcased within the film is quality and enhances the proceedings success. As aforementioned earlier, background scores is good and Gibhran score brownie points during this department.
Dialogues area unit neat and piece of writing might are a little crispier within the half. playscript is kind of racy and lack of songs additionally facilitate matters even a lot of. returning to the director Rajesh tropical rain forest, he has done an honest} job and narrated this French remake in a very decent tone and with ample attention-grabbing moments.

Verdict:-

On the full, Cheekati Rajyam could be a slick action heroic tale with attention-grabbing moments going its manner. Racy half, Kamal Haasan’s performance and a few conventionalised action episodes area unit large assets. On the flip facet, a certain story line and a rather dragged out half spoil things a little. All people who like action thrillers can find yourself caring it success and for the remainder it finally ends up as simply an honest watch this weekend.

Kumari 21F

Review – Kumari 21F – Bold & Beautiful

Release date : November 20, 2015
tollywoodfilmcomment.blogspot.in: 3.25/5
Director : Surya Pratap
Producer : Sukumar
Music Director : Devi Sri Prasad

Story:-
Siddu(Raj Tharun) is a happy go lucky middle class boy who falls flat for a beautiful looking girl named Kumari(Heba Patel). As soon as he starts getting closer to her, Siddhu often gets confused with Kumari’s bold and daring attitude.
Even though he is neck deep in love, Siddhu keeps suspecting Kumari’s character and past. One fine day, his suspicious attitude creates a huge rift between the couple and they break up. But some where in his heart, Siddhu still loves Kumari and decides to go against all odds to win his love back.
What will he do now ? How will he clear his confusion ? Will Kumari accept Siddhu’s suspicious nature ? That forms the rest of the story.
Plus Points:-
Story of the film is quite contemporary and has been set nicely in today’s age and time. Raj Tharun is a pretty confident actor and proves his acting prowess with a very complicated character. The way he showcases various emotions throughout the film speaks volumes of his talent.
Heba Patel is the best of the film and showcases supreme talent. She had a tough role to portray and Heba performed to the best of her capabilities. She carried the oomph factor well and also gave a mature performance during the end. Noel Sean and the actors who played his friends are impressive in their respective roles.
Kumari 21 F is clearly targeted at the youth and it manages to satisfy them with some bold dialogues and raunchy scenes. Last half an hour is quite emotional and the way director Surya Pratap ends the film in a mature way is also quite commendable.
Minus Points:-
The boldness and the way heroine’s character goes over board in certain scenes should have been mellowed down a bit. As said earlier, this film is only for the younger lot and family audience will find it quite difficult to sit through it.
The story behind Raj Tharun’s father and the way the director has molded his track with the main plot is below par. First half of the film moves at its own pace and has scenes which have been only added to attract the B and C centers.
Technical Aspects:-
As expected, both Ratnavelu and Devi Sri Prasad are the unsung heroes of Kumari 21 F. Devi Sri gives a thumping music score and his back ground is also pretty impressive. Visuals in the film are quite endearing and the various lighting techniques used by Ratnavelu look natural and cool.
Coming to the director Surya Pratap, he has done a decent job with the film. Even though he goes overboard in showcasing heroine’s character in certain areas, he nicely justifies it up during the climax.
Verdict:-
As expected, Kumari 21 F is a bold attempt from Sukumar. This youthful entertainer stays true to its genre and is bound to do well with the younger lot. Also, it is high time that film makers attempt hard hitting films like these once in a while. Finally, if you manage to sit through the predictable nature of the script, Kumari 21 F will surely impress you its raunchy moments, lead pair’s performance and a emotional climax
